A user can save or delete a content object when she does not own content object but has the proper role to update it or delete it.

For example, a user is assigned role ROLE_CMS_PORTAL_EDITOR and wants to edit a content object whose property 'accessibility.canBeUpdatedBy' contains ROLE_CMS_PORTAL_EDITOR value, thus permitting all users assigned with that role to update content object. When edit form is displayed no Save button appears. Thus user cannot save content object.

The same behavior is observed with delete link in content object list page.
